March 25th concert changed from live to virtual concert

Dear Maywood Band Community

In response to the current public health concerns we are going to explore a virtual concert in place of our live March 25^th concert. Much thought has gone into this decision. The Maywood band program would like to do its part in protecting the community and supporting our area health care workers.

Students will continue to prepare concert pieces and we will post video recordings on the band website. We’ll send out an announcement when the recordings have been posted.

We are also videotaping students performing in small groups to create a video to share with our 5^th graders to take the place of 5^th grade visits and instrument trial night.

Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony are scheduled to perform at the Eastshore region band festival on March 31^st at Issaquah Middle School during the school day. This event is still to be determined. This is a smaller more self-contained event. If the district extends the ban on gatherings and non-district people we will need to cancel this event as well. We’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for all your support. We plan to resume live concerts with our June 2^nd concert here at Maywood.
