Hi All,
7th and 8th grade
band students are invited to play with the Liberty Band Friday, September 29 at
the football game. I will need to know by September 22 if you are going to
attend so we can plan for pizza.
We will meet in the band room at
5:00 p.m. Students need their instrument and the stand tunes. We will work in
sectionals and then have pizza. Pizza is being provided. No money is necessary.
Students should wear their Maywood
Band sweatshirt. If you don’t own one wear something with Maywood on it or
something GREEN.
Students have the option to have a
lyre and flip folder if it fits on their instrument. You can purchase these at
Music and Arts or Kennelly Keys. Take your instrument with you to the store to be
sure the lyre fits. You don’t have to have these as you can just look on with a
high school student but if you buy one you will be using it in high school.
Maywood
students will be released after half time. You may sit with your parents if
they are attending the game (or you can stay with the band as long as your
parents are there) otherwise you must arrange for a ride home. Half time is
typically over by 8:15. Please plan to pick up your student between 8:15
and 8:30.
Maywood
students are not allowed to stay and roam around the stadium. Please do not
leave your student waiting past 8:30.
Email Ms. Sunmark with questions.
We will not be practicing the stand tunes much in class. If you would like to download and/or print copies of your parts here is the link. There is also a link to listen to the tunes. Mr. Tanner has included a list of the easier tunes. Don't feel pressure to be able to play everything. This is more of a community and relationship building event.
From Mr. Tanner:
Here are recordings we just made of all of our stand tunes:

These are some of the more approachable tunes:
Land of 1000 Dances
Bad Blood
Can's Stop This Feeling (the melody rhythm is pretty tricky)
867-5309/Jenny
Stand tunes 1 and 2
Fight Song--except for WW
