Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band 7th and 8th graders

Hi All, 

First of all I miss you all! I hope you and your families continue to be well and are enjoying more time together. 

As we move forward with online learning I want to assure you that my intent is to add enjoyment and musical growth to your day and not to add any stress on top of what you may already be experiencing. 

I have created a hub for each class in MS Teams. You can access Seesaw, JWPepper, Essential Elements Interactive and the Maywood Band website all from your Team’s main page. 

My hope is that you are all familiar with how to log into your Office 365 account and find Teams. Once you are there you’ll see a team with your band name, Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony or Symphonic Band. If you don’t see your team please email me at sunmarkk@issaquah.wednet.edu. 

By now most of you have created your Seesaw account and many of you have sent me a video or written response. I’d like to continue to use Seesaw for these activities. 

Essential Elements Book 2 and Essential Technique Book 3: Within your team you can click on the EEi link and create your EEi account. This is a great resource especially if you have left your book(s) at school. I encourage you to create an account even if you have your books as there are additional resources online. One of the best features is being able to play the pieces in your book along with an accompaniment.  

Here's how to create your account-  

1. Go to the EEi website (https://www.essentialelementsinteractive.com/) by either clicking on the link in Teams or going directly to the website. 

2. Choose “Student” and if you already have an account enter your username and password. If not click “create an account”. You will be prompted to enter a School Code. DON’T DO THIS. Instead, click “I don’t have a school code”. You’ll then be prompted to enter your birthdate.  

3. The next screen is “Terms of Agreement”. Check both boxes and enter the Activation Code from the first page of your book. If you don’t have your book or have an older version use the codes below. Once you activate one of the books you will have the option to activate any other book you have a code for.

4. Create your account including user name and password. Be sure to write down your information as you’ll need it again to log in. 

5. Confirm and you are all set to log in. You’ll be prompted to add an email address. This is optional. 

6. In the upper right hand corner of the main page you will see two icons, one for resources and one for music studio. Music studio is where you will find all the pieces in your book and the place to activate any other books you own (or have the above codes for). Just click on “Activate Book _” and follow the prompts. You’ll then have access to both books via tabs in the middle of the page. You also have a tuner and fingering charts. The other icon, “Resources” has many additional things such as videos and other helpful stuff. Have fun exploring.  

7. As I learn more about Teams my hope is to create more ways to connect and continue to provide you with inspirational and fun activities.  

I am certain that many of you have more technology skills than I do and I appreciate your patience as I learn.  

I’ve also attached the schedule for this week including my office hours. You can always email me as I look at my emails every day but during office hours I’ll plan to be at my computer on email so you can receive an immediate response. (Unless all 150 of you email me at the same timeJ).
