Eastside Youth Concert Band - new opportunity

Hello Eastside Band Directors and Students!
I am excited to announce the formation of a youth concert band program to provide enhanced musical experiences for advanced high school and exceptional middle school students from Sammamish, Issaquah, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond and the surrounding areas.  During the school year, practices will be held at Pacific Cascade Middle School in Issaquah on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm with the first rehearsal on October 17.  Auditions are due the first week of October and are detailed below.  This summer, we formed a summer concert band with a concert on Friday afternoon,  July 28, and had a terrific experience!  Check it out on the Summer Band page:  Summer Band!  For a flyer you can hand out or post, click here. (also attached)  Information can be found on the website www.eastsideyouthband.com.  Audition details are below and posted on the website.

To join the band, submit a link to a brief (2- 5 minute) video on Youtube (make it "unlisted") on one (or more) of the following instruments: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe,  clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba or Percussion that shows:
1) an example of your lyrical playing (something slow and pretty)
2) an example of your technical playing (something fast and flashy)
3) chromatic scale articulated (not slurred) from your lowest note to your highest note at a comfortable speed with your best tone quality.
Percussionists should include playing from multiple instruments (timpani (if available to you), snare, mallets).

Send the Youtube link with your name and instrument in the email subject no later than Sunday, October 8 at 11:59pm to: eastsideyouthband@gmail.com.  There is no fee to audition.  If you play more than one instrument, send a separate audition for each instrument you are interested in playing.  For example, if a flute player plays piccolo, send a separate piccolo audition, if a trumpet player plays French Horn, send auditions for both.  Students will be notified of the results of their audition by Saturday, October 14.  The participation fee is $400 for the school year payable in two payments of $200.  There will be three performances throughout the school year, and if there is enough interest, two bands differentiated by ability demonstrated by the auditions will be formed.

You are welcome to use selections from All-State or WIBC audition materials,  available online from the links following, or etudes and excerpts from solo literature.  WIBC and All-State band auditions are due at about the same time.  These are terrific programs that you should consider also auditioning for.
