Our December concert was a great success in spite of the last minute move to the Maywood gym.
I was so impressed with the maturity of each group.
Our focus on tone, intonation, balance, dynamic contrast and of course notes and rhythm was very apparent in each ensemble's performance. Thank you to all who arrived early to help set up and to those who helped with clean up after the concert.
I have heard from many of you that you would rather have our concerts in the Maywood gym from now on so you can see your children!
My concerns have been acoustics and students' ability to hear so they can balance with the ensemble and of course audience comfort.
Based on your feedback you think the acoustics are fine and would be willing to give up a little comfort in order to have a better view.
The students proved that they are able to balance well in the gym even without a dress rehearsal.
So I have moved our remaining concerts back to Maywood. We will set up on one end of the gym so that people sitting on both sides will be able to see. Feel free to bring a seat cushion!
All bands have new music and I've asked everyone to play through the pieces over break at least once if you are able and let me know which pieces you really like!
