Time to Start Planning for Solo and Ensemble

On Saturday, March 8th hundreds of music students from the Eastshore Region will descend on Islander Middle School for our Solo and Ensemble Festival. Participants prepare a solo or small ensemble (duet, trio, quartet....) and perform in front of a professional adjudicator. Students receive a critique and a certificate with a gold, silver or bronze rating. It isn't a competition. Any student can receive a gold based on how well he or she performs.

Plan on around an hour of your time for arrival, warm up and performance and possibly staying to hear other performers. Dress in concert attire.

This is an optional event and one I highly recommend. If you are taking private lessons you should select your music with your instructor. If you are not studying privately see Ms. Sunmark for music suggestions.

Your music must be a written published piece of the classical or jazz but  not "pop" style.

I'll post another message when registration forms are available but you should be selecting and working on your music now if you are interested in participating.
